David S. Barron – Director/Cinematographer
Director/Cinematographer David S. Barron has over twenty years of experience in television and film productions. He created his first television show in 1990, titled THE NAKED TRUTH. A half-hour music magazine show on cable TV. He formed amFILMS in Atlanta in 1994, and ever since the HD revolution took off, amFILMS became amFILMS HD in 2006.
In 2001, David moved to Los Angeles to pursue greater creative endeavors in Hollywood, CA. During this time, the reality television genre was born on American TV, and David found his true calling: shooting unscripted non-fiction television. David is a firm believer that his futuristic vision, combined with his ability to create, will be destined for success. Currently, amFILMS HD has six TV shows in development and two documentaries in production.
David has shot over 600 days reality TV coverage for network and cable outlets like ABC, NBC, FOX, the WB, ESPN, TLC, LIFETIME, DISCOVERY SCIENCE HD, VH1, and BRAVO. Such titles include REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA and DC: STARTING OVER, TRADING SPOUSES, THE SCHOLAR, ROCK OF LOVE, FLAVOR OF LOVE, etc. In 2005, STARTING OVER won a daytime Emmy, and had a successful three-year run on NBC. In addition to television series, David has shot three independent features: THE PINK CONSPIRACY, THE CURSED, and BREAK. All are scheduled for theatrical release in 2009 and 2010. THE CURSED premiered on February 6, 2010 on the Syfy Channel.
He has worked with the following talent: Jimmy Carter, Bruce Willis, Susan Sarandon, Janet Jackson, Bret Michaels, Flavor Flav, Al Gore, John McCain, LeBron James, Melina Kanakaredes, Gary Sinise, Patti Labelle, Bill Withers, Lorenzo Lamas, Mercedes Mc Nab, James Russo, Sarah Thompson, John Force, Robert Downey Jr., Chad Everette, Jon Heder, Richard Tyson, Stephen Furst, Pearl Jam, Van Halen, William Fichtner, Don Dokken, Dick Dale, Peter Bogdanovich, Gena Rowlands.
David is an accomplished director/cinematographer with credits ranging from music videos, feature films, TV, and corporate productions. In addition, he is an outstanding video editor with training for non-linear systems such as: AVID, and FINAL CUT PRO. He began his career at CNN in 1989, where he was trained in remote field production operations and post-production editing. For twelve years he covered US presidents, Super Bowls, Republican and Democratic Conventions, undercover police operations and other breaking news stories. David graduated with BA in Journalism, from Georgia State University in Atlanta, in 1989.
